It is fifty years since Westlea Wanderers got together, – a group of lads playing football for fun on the local rec, who gradually became a force to be reckoned with.  They started their campaign for recognition in the Leamington Sunday League Youth Section and went on to win a series of prestigious trophies all round the district.  They won their first major Sunday League trophy taking the Division 1 title in the 1970/71 season, and by 1972 had become the first Leamington side to reach a County Cup Final for 51 years, when they beat Poplar Athletic 1-0 to win the Birmingham Junior Cup in April that year.  Under Captain Ian Walker they came close to being nicknamed The Invincibles!

Secretaries of the club included Neil Treadwell, David Treadwell, Chris Elliott, Dave Miles, Ken Lambert and Phill Hall.  Sid Bench and Fred Morgan also held the post temporarily.            Tom Lewin. April 2015
